MicroStrategy CFO: 'we're in a hype cycle' on bitcoin, but that's not bad for MSTR

"Right now, we're in a hype cycle" on bitcoin (BTC-USD), MicroStrategy ([[MSTR]] +0.7%) Chief Financial Officer Phong Le said in a presentation at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference.And because of that, the price of bitcoin will be volatile, he explained. But that's not dissuading the company from investing in the cryptocurrency, he said."The marketing around bitcoin goes in fits and spurts and gets amplified" and that won't calm down until there's more balanced views and more balanced information on bitcoin, Le said.That will happen as more people and companies become more knowledgeable about cryptocurrencies, which is starting to increase, he said.For the time being, he doesn't mind the volatility. If bitcoin stays in a hype cycle for five years, that will be good for the price of bitcoin, he said.Accounting isn't advantageous, though, he noted.
