George Soros's fund confirms holding 'some' bitcoin - Bloomberg

George Soros's family office confirms that it owns bitcoin (BTC-USD), another indication that big investors are getting into the cryptocurrency markets, if only taking small positions. Soros Fund Management owns "some coins, but not a lot," Dawn Fitzpatrick, CEO and chief investment officer of the firm said in an interview at a Bloomberg event this week. "I'm not sure bitcoin is only viewed as an inflation hedge here," she said. "I think it's crossed the chasm to mainstream," Fitzpatrick added, noting that the market now has over 200M users and a market value of more than $2T. Bitcoin (BTC-USD) is up ~2.8% to $54.2K over the past 24 hours; YTD, the largest crypto by market cap has climbed 87%, but it's been a volatile path, having sunk as low as $29.8K in July. In June, TheStreet reported that the Soros Fund could start trading bitcoin (BTC-USD).
